1. Don't stress about the cost of your destination wedding. Keep it simple with the parents, granparents and closest siblings. You can always have a full reception upon returning home. Some destination weddings can actually end up being cheaper than a traditional one.
2. Hire a planner who has done SEVERAL destination weddings. If not, she may not know how to negotiate with the hotels, locations, or packages. Make sure to ask your event planner if she has experience. Ask for testimonials and pictures of previous exotic weddings she has accomplished.
3. Destination weddings should be purchased in packages. These type of weddings can be fun and relaxing if you plan properly. Once again, make sure to have a professional who knows the ends and outs of destination weddings.
4. Allow your event planner to do all the negotiations. Don't settle for the first price you've been told or the first place you've called to inquire about.
5. Do not try to plan a destination wedding alone. It isn't worth the stress...and isn't that the sole reason of having a destination wedding in the first place?
